Easter activities on tap

Easter activities are starting in Lamar County as early as Saturday March 31 and will run through Easter Sunday, April 8. The Rock Ranch Easter Eggstravaganza, a free community egg hunt, will be held Saturday, March 31. The Rock Ranch will open the gates at 11 a.m. and the event concludes at 2 p.m. More than 26,000 prize eggs will be hidden at the ranch for the event. Agespecifi c egg hunts will be held across the 1,250-acre ranch. Age groups include toddlers under 2, ages 2-3, 4-6, 7-12, and 13 and older. Actual egg hunts begin at 12:45 p.m. Story time with Harvey Wilson will begin at 11 a.m. as will photo opportunities with the Easter Bunny. The Easter story presentation will be at 12:30 p.m. Barnesville Church of the Nazarene will also hold its Resurrection Egg-Stravaganza, including a telling of the Easter story, Saturday, March 31,from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for children ages 4 years through sixth grade. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6542 will hold its Easter egg hunt, complete with games and snacks on Sunday, April 1, at 2 p.m. Friendship Church will present an Easter play ‘Choices,’ Saturday, April 1, at 11 a.m. Afterward, there will be an Easter egg hunt for children and fish fry fundraiser for youth. Plates will be $5. Barnesville First Baptist will present its Easter musical, ‘O Glorious Day,’ Sunday, April 1, at 6:30 p.m. The performance will include the choir, soloists and praise team. First Assembly of God will hold a flashlight Easter egg hunt at 7 p.m. Friday, April 6. Participants should bring their own flashlights. Games are also planned. St. Peter The Rock Catholic Church will celebrate Holy Thursday, April 5, at 7 p.m. with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper. Good Friday, April 6, at 3 p.m. the church will hold Stations of the Cross and at 7 p.m. the Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion. On Holy Saturday at 8 p.m. parishioners will celebrate Easter Vigil Mass. On Easter Sunday, April 8, 10 a.m. Mass will be in English and the 1 p.m. Mass will be in Spanish. Ricky Brooks of Christ Temple Ministries, Rev. Quinton Maddox of Gray’s Chapel AME, evangelist Thelma Taylor of Tabernacle of Christ Encouragement, minister William Perdue of Mt. Pleasant Baptist, Rev. Michael Davis of St. Phillip AME, Rev. Robert Releford of New Hope Baptist, Rev. LaDamiun Raines of Shekinah Glory Everlasting Ministries. Bethel Baptist Church on Johnstonville Road will have its Resurrection Weekend annual church picnic and egg hunt at Ed Taylor Memorial Park from 11 a.m.to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 7. Calvary Baptist Church will hold its Easter egg hunt in Aldora Park Saturday, April 7, at 2 p.m. April 8, Easter Sunday, Communion will be held at 11 a.m. Milner and Marvin United Methodist churches will join together for Good Friday Service, April 6, at 7 p.m. at Milner Methodist. Easter services will be Sunday, April 8, at 9:30 a.m. at Milner United Methodist; and 11 a.m. at Marvin United Methodist. First Works Church: will hold its special Easter service Sunday, April 8, at 10:30 a.m. with an egg hunt afterward. For information call 678-359-1616.
