Easter options abound (updated and amended)

A plethora of events are on tap this week as Barnesville-Lamar County observes Easter weekend. The Church of God is offering Passover feast observances nightly April 9-15 at 7 p.m. Info: 358-1689. Also on April 9, St. Peter the Rock Catholic Church will observe the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. Info: 706-648-2599. St. Peter the Rock offers two Good Friday observances, a Stations of the Cross service at 3 p.m. and Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion at 7 p.m. Also at 7 p.m., First Assembly of God in Barnesville will host a flashlight egg hunt (bring a flashlight). Info: 358-0646. On Saturday, April 11 First Baptist Church of Barnesville will have an egg hunt for children walking age through first grade at 10 a.m. Info: 358-2353. Saturday, April 11 also finds a series of events on the calendar. Bethel Baptist Church will host its annual picnic and egg hunt at 11 a.m. at the recreation complex off Gordon Road followed by a youth Easter production at 6 p.m. Info: 358-1720. First United Methodist Church of Barnesville will hold its annual egg hunt at 2 p.m. at the Rose Avenue home of Louise Jackson. Info: 358-1494. St. Peter the Rock will observe an Easter Vigil mass at 8 p.m. Easter Sunday kicks off with sunrise services at Antioch Baptist Church at 6 a.m. featuring Rev. Keith Battle and at First United Methodist Church at 7:30 a.m. with Rev. Jay Tenney. FUMC will also hold it’s contemporary service at 9 a.m. and traditional worship at 11 a.m. Wrights Grove Church will hold two services at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and a note-singing at 1:30 p.m. Info: 478-394-0211. St. Peter the Rock will hold a traditional Easter mass at 10 a.m. Bethel will hold resurrection Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. while 11 a.m. services are offered at First Assembly of God, First Baptist and multiple other houses of worship.
