Edith Alling Dale Lindsey

Edith Alling Dale Lindsey, 100, of Griffin, Georgia, died May 6, 2022. She was born May 9, 1921, in Columbia, Tennessee, daughter of the late Norman Dale and Alice Beck Dale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Pierce Lindsey, Jr., and three sisters.

Mrs. Lindsey attended the Columbia (Tennessee) Institute, Columbia High School and graduated from Agnes Scott College. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Griffin, the Griffin-Spalding Historical Society, the Pulaski Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Garden Club of Griffin. She was a former member of the Utility Club and several bridge clubs. She was a gracious hostess and enjoyed an active social life, with many friends of all ages throughout many generations. She enjoyed travel and was an avid reader. 

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Alice Lindsey Blake (Andrew) and Franklin Pierce Lindsey, III (Mary) of Griffin; William Dale Lindsey (Susan) of Barnesville; and Edith Lindsey Eckman (William) of Waynesboro, Virginia; grandchildren Andrew Blake, Mary Blake, William Dale Lindsey, Jr., Ansley Lindsey Raith, Thomas Pierce Lindsey, Margaret McLean Eckman and Charles Eckman, step-grandchildren Michael Withrow and Kathryn Anastasio; eleven great-grandchildren, seven step great- grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
