Egg hunts, special services abound as Easter approaches

Multiple egg hunts and special church services are on the calendar as Easter approaches. Easter will be observed Sunday, April 9.

The egg hunts get underway in earnest this weekend so get your Easter bonnets and baskets ready.


Middle and high school students are invited to a Glow in the Dark egg hunt Friday, March 31 at Summers Field Park from 7-9 p.m. There will be free drinks, pizza, prizes and music. This event is sponsored by downtown businesses, First Baptist Church (FBC) and Heather Stanley.

Calvary Church will host an egg hunt Saturday, April 1 at noon at the church located at 968 Veterans Parkway.

The VFW Post will also host an egg hunt Saturday from 2-4 p.m. There will be snacks, punch and prizes for the kids and an opportunity to take photos with the Easter bunny.

FBC and First United Methodist Church (FUMC) are teaming up to host a community egg hunt Sunday, April 2 at Summers Field Park from 3-5 p.m. There will be an Easter devotion, dancing and a large supply of eggs for the finding.

Milner will host an egg hunt on Saturday, April 8 at 11:30 a.m. in city park. Plastic eggs are needed. If you can help, call 770.358.1604.

Fredonia Church will host Easter services on April 2 and April 9 at 11 a.m. in the sanctuary.
FUMC will host the Stations of the Cross art event April 4-8 in the sanctuary. Hours Tuesday through Friday are 3-7 p.m. Saturday hours are 9 a.m.-noon.

FUMC will host a Good Friday service April 7 at 7 p.m. On Easter Sunday, FUMC will offer a sunrise service at 7 a.m. at Summers Field Park. The traditional Easter service is at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary.
Ramah Church will present its Easter cantata at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 9.
