UPDATE: Defense attorney Pamela Bettis has raised a Paxton’s challenge regarding the racial make-up of the jury and the panels of potential jurors from which it was selected. Of the 12 jurors chosen, only two are black. Both alternates are white. Sixty percent of the original panel was white; 40% was black. The prosecution struck eight blacks and one white. Seventy seven percent of the defense’s strikes were white. Judge Tommy Wilson denied the challenge motion.
