Election: GOP runs strong; Fouts wins in Milner

Georgia’s Republican party appeared poised at midnight to win all of Georgia’s statewide races, take control of the U.S. House and make strong gains in the U.S. Senate. One incumbent Democratic congressman from Macon, Jim Marshall, was ousted. Another, Sanford Bishop, has apparently survived but by a narrow margin. ’This is not an election,’ said GOP Georgia chairwoman Sue Everhart. ‘This is a restraining order against Barack Obama.’ Here are the Lamar Co. results – all precincts reporting.
