Elizabeth Foster Lyons obituary

Mrs. Elizabeth Foster Lyons, the daughter of the late Mr. Lee and Mrs. Carrie Daniels Foster, was born on June 28, 1933 in Lamar County, Ga. Elizabeth was raised and attended school in the Sugar Hill area of the county. At an early age she joined Sugar Hill AME. She later met and married William A. Lyons, who is better known as W.A. They shared 56 wonderful years together until her passing on Nov. 18, 2012. Elizabeth was a very dedicated wife and mother. She loved each of her children dearly. She was very strong-willed and keeping the family together was always important to her. She loved flowers and loved to paint using her favorite colors of red, black and white. She also had a beautiful singing voice and often used it to sing sweet melodies. Elizabeth was the youngest of seven children. She was preceded in death by each of her siblings to include Robert Foster, Mozelle O’Neal, Willie Foster, Lewis Foster, Albert Foster and Jessie Foster. Elizabeth leaves behind to cherish her memories her husband, W.A. Lyons; eight children, Diane Jackson, Brenda Akins (Richard), Sonny Lyons, Sandra Lyons, Lucille Eleby (W.T.) and Darron Lyons (Michelle) all of Barnesville, Ga., Robert Lyons (Rose) of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Christopher Lyons of Atlanta, Ga.; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, L.T. Lyons (Emma Lee) of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters-in-law, Cleva Mae Simon and Annie Ruth Lyons of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Leola Boyd of Newark, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
