Ellenwood man charged with child sex solicitation

A 34-year-old Ellenwood man faces charges here after using social media to set up a tryst with what he thought was a 14-year-old Lamar County girl, according to sheriff Brad White. Lt. Jeremy Roberts of the LCSO was contacted August 29 via a social media application that is used to monitor attempts at crimes against children. The suspect allegedly used a decoy social media account to approach what he thought was the young teen. An online chat was initiated between the man and the decoy agent that went on for some time. As the chat progressed, the suspect, Anthony Quintin Evans of 4799 Oak Court in Ellenwood began to show an interest in sex with the decoy. At one point he said, ‘i’m wondering and i’m hopin you can tell me what kinda fun ima have with a 14yr old lol’. Evans set up a meeting with the ‘girl’ for August 30 at 6 p.m. but didn’t show up. He said he got scared but continued to contact the decoy through the Labor Day weekend. A second meeting was set up for 3:15 p.m. September 3 at the Dollar General in Milner and a cell phone conversation was begun between Evans and a female decoy. He told the decoy he was on the way and was driving a white Chevy Impala with dark tinted windows. A takedown team was assembled and put in place in the area. When Evans arrived he was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with computer child exploitation and possession of marijuana and is being held in the Lamar County jail.
