The night of April 27-28 was overwhelming, but the dawn was heartbreaking, said one of the first responders at the sites of Barnesville’s tornado damage.Darrell Riggins, operations manager for Lamar and Pike counties at Mid Georgia Ambulance, said within a halfhour of the tornado strike, MGA had ‘five trucks on the scene and ready to transport’ wounded persons.’I was just shocked by the extent of the damage, once there was enough light to see,’ he said. ‘It was truly heartbreaking.’
