Emma Lee Foster Smith

Emma Lee Foster Smith was born March 1, 1938 in Culloden, GA to the late Otis and Loretta Foster. She died Monday, Sept. 7, 2015. Emma ‘˜Big Sista’ Smith attended school in Monroe County, GA. She retired from General Tire and became a homemaker until her homegoing. She joined Orange Grove Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She was a member of the Lamar County Prayer Band and often attended the Lamar County Senior Citizen Center. She was united in matrimony to the late Albert L. Smith Sr. and to this union nine children were born: Douglas Foster and Albert Lewis (Nancy) Smith Jr. of Augusta, Sandra Mayes, Samuel Smith, Mary Ann (Chris) Middlebrooks, Carolyn (Robert Sr.) Blount, Ronald (Nicole) Smith and Zaundra Cox, all of Barnesvile, and Gregory Smith of Jackson; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Ann Stubbs of Salem GA and Margaret Archer of Barnesville; two brothers, Joseph (Farrie) Smith of Forsyth and Edward (Pauline) Davis of Barnesville; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Cecile Foster, Geraldine Foster, George Smith Sr., all of Barnesville, Merrill (Mattie) Smith of Milner, Robert (Rosa) of Cleveland OH; an aunt, Elizabeth (William) Rawls of Culloden GA. She also leaves a host of other relatives and friends who will truly miss her. Services were held Friday, Sept. 11, 2015 at Orange Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Lonnie B. Fletcher officiated. Bentley & Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
