English’s five-hitter paces Trojans

Lamar County beat non-region opponent Taylor County Friday night at Aldora Field, 11-2, behind a five hit, complete game performance from senior pitcher Marc English.The Diamond Trojans, now 7-5 for the year, host Region 5AA’s top seeded team, Pike County, Tuesday. The Pirates are 10-3 and riding a ten game winning streak. Gordon College had a successful weekend on the diamond sweeping Region XVII rival Abraham Baldwin in a three game conference series here. The Highlanders took Friday night’s game 13-3 and then won both ends of a doubleheader over the Stallions on Saturday, 5-2 and 16-1.Now 22-13 for the season, Gordon has won eight in a row and will host Chattanooga State for a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday beginning at two o’clock.
