Tailback Eric O’Neal has signed a contract with the Ottawa Redblacks of the Canadian Football League.O’Neal is native of Kathleen, Ga. and a former standout at Houston County High School. He played college ball at Coastal Carolina. During his senior season, he carried the ball 179 times for 781 yards and six touchdowns. He also caught 30 passes for 257 yards and two more scores.O’Neal is a legend in Houston County.By the end of his senior year he had posted over 528 career rushing attempts, 3006 yards, 39 touchdowns and had more than 3700 all-purpose yards in just 25 games.In his senior year alone, he was named first team Class AAAAA all-state by the Associated Press and Georgia Sports Writers Association and was a first team all-state selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Associated Press after leading the 1-AAAAA region in rushing. In addition, O’Neal earned all-region honors and was named the region’s offensive player of the year while also receiving his team’s Golden Helmet Award signifying their team MVP.O’Neal is the son of Benjamin and Faye O’Neal of Kathleen and the grandson of George and Ernestine Barrett and Dorothy O’Neal, all of Barnesville. He is the brother of Teresa Warren. His brother in law is Marcus Warren and he has a niece, Peyton Warren.
