Evelyn J. Cook Alexander

Mrs. Evelyn J. Cook Alexander, age 91, departed from this life on February 13, 2023 at Providence Rehabilitation Center, in Thomaston, GA, after a brief illness. Evelyn was born the first of seven (7) children to Albert F. Cook (Deceased) and Gertrude J. Glover Cook (Deceased) on May 26, 1931. She had most recently made her residence at Sunny Grove Assisted Living in Barnesville, GA.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cecil B. Alexander. She is also preceded in death by sisters, Lillian (Kitty) C. Cook-Morgan, and Jacqueline (Jackie) E. McKaig and brothers, Donald (Sonny) F. Cook, and Raymond Joseph (Joe) Cook. She is survived by brothers James Robert (Robbie) Cook of Augusta, GA and Albert Phillip Cook of Gordon, GA. Evelyn is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Evelyn was a homemaker for almost all of her life. She and her husband of 60 years lived for some 32 years in Orlando, Florida. Returning in 1989, Cecil and Evelyn moved back to his childhood home property on Rehoboth Church Road, in Spalding County where they enjoyed their garden and being active members of Rehoboth Baptist Church.
Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn C. Alexander will be conducted on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Rehoboth Baptist Church 1304 Barnesville Road, Griffin, GA 30224. Reverend Phillip Cook and Reverend Robert Cook will officiate. Internment will follow in Rehoboth Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Alexander will lie-in­ state on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Rehoboth Baptist Church from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.
