Ex-prison guard charged with child porn granted bond

A man charged with 17 counts of sexual exploitation of children was granted bond April 11 in Lamar superior court because he was in jail 90 days without an indictment. Defense attorney Eric Hearn successfully argued for bond for Steven Hall. ‘He is statutorily entitled to bond,’ Hearn told the judge. Testimony indicated Hall’s computer hard drive is at the state crime lab and examination of it is not expected to be complete for two more weeks. Hall could face more charges, assistant district attorney Matt Bridges said. Hall had a previous conviction in Butts County where he worked as a prison guard. He was convicted of trading tobacco with inmates. After much discussion, Judge Wilson granted Hall a bond in the amount of $10,000. He must stay in Troup County except to attend court. He must also stay away from alleged victims and family and can have no access to the internet.
