Construction is set to begin Monday, Nov. 4 on the College Drive crosswalk that links the Gordon State College Student Center and other buildings on the east side of campus with the Academic and Fine Arts buildings on the west side of campus. This is the main crosswalk near the center of campus. Plans call for the improved crosswalk to be slightly elevated, distinguishing it as a major crosswalk and contributing an additional safety factor for both pedestrians and motorists on College Drive. Improvements have also been made to other crosswalks along College Drive. The improvements, which include brick pavers and landscaping, are modeled after the City of Barnesville’s Downtown Revitalization Project.
