The Lamar County commission honored the late Marty Jackson, a Barnesville police officer who died of a heart attack August 12, at its regular meeting November 10. Several members of Jackson’s family were on hand as was a contingent of BPD officers led by chief Chuck Keadle. In other business, the commission conveyed the 132.97 acres which included the Cedar Grove landfill to the solid waste authority. It also denied a tax refund for former commisisoner Royce Turner who was a no-show at the meeting.
