Family gives update on Spalding sheriff

The family of Spalding County Sheriff Dee Stewart wants to thank everyone for all the kindness shown after the tragic accident Sheriff Stewart had yesterday, says Capt. Tony Ranieri of the Spalding sheriff’s office. ’The family also wanted to help stop the rumors that have been going around and the number of calls being flooded to the sheriff’s department by stating Sheriff Stewart is listed as stable but still critical,’ Ranieri said. ‘He has undergone some tests to determine the extent of his head injury. When he arrived at the hospital the doctors placed the sheriff in a medically induced coma and placed him on a ventilator. At no time was the sheriff on life support or had a heart attack or a stroke.’ The sheriff’s serious head injury is being monitored by doctors around the clock. ’As he progresses through this ordeal the family and the sheriff’s department will keep the citizens informed,’ he said. ‘We know there are a lot of friends and supporters of the sheriff and we ask that everyone prays for a speedy recovery. We’ll keep you posted as to his condition.’
