Farmer’s market opens Thursday

The Barnesville Farmers Market opens Thursday in the same location as previous years, the Market Street parking lot. The opening day will feature contemporary gospel by local stockbroker Vaughn Childre. This year the chamber of commerce merchant’s committee is handling arrangements for the local market featuring home-grown vegetables and fruits, home-baked breads and desserts and a variety of jams, jellies and other products. The market will be open Thursdays through September. ’We’ll have live music on the first Thursday of every month with Ladebco providing the sound,’ said IDA director Missy Kendrick. ’We’ll also bring in speakers through the season to talk about how to can and other subjects related to the market.’ All local farmers and home vegetable garden producers can attend. Registration is $5 a week. For information on being a vendor or the times the market will be open, call Jennifer Eanes at the chamber, 770-358-5884. ’We’d love to have everybody come buy or sell,’ said Kendrick.
