The GBI was reportedly called in because the shooter in the case is the son of a Butts County commissioner. That information has not been confirmed. The Waffle House is located just across the Lamar county line in Butts County. Butts County coroner Ralph Wilson has identified the dead man as 27-year-old Nicholas Bryan of Milner. Bryan’s body has been taken to the GBI crime lab for autopsy. From Nelly Miles, GBI: Just before 11 p.m., three calls to 911 came in from the Waffle House. The last was concerning shots fired. The dead man is Nicholas Phinazee Bryan, 27. He suffered a gunshot wound and died at Monroe County Hospital about 3 a.m. Bryan got into a confrontation with Robert Lewis Henderson Jr., 36, and Antonio DeMarty Evans, 39. Evans and Bryan got into a physical altercation and Henderson fired one shot, striking Bryan. For much more on this story, see the 11.5.19 print edition of The Herald Gazette.
