Ferris: Water authority faces tough 2010

The Lamar County water authority has become another victim of the failing economy. It will have to pull $200,000 out of reserve to pay its Georgia Environmental Facilities Authority loan this year. ”We made it through 2009 but I don’t think 2010 is going to be so kind,” said general manager Amberly Ferris at the Jan. 26 meeting. Despite its struggles, the authority reiterated its pledge not to raise customers’ rates.
