Great preachers, yes — but can they drive race cars? The Rev. Garth Forster of First Baptist of Barnesville and the Rev. Jay Tenney of First United Methodist will be two stars in a ‘Faster Pastor’ race Thursday June 23 at Atlanta Motor Speedway’s Thursday Thunder event. Both say they are excited and looking forward to getting behind the wheel. The competition is all in fun and for good causes, Forster said. First Baptist’s youth choir is singing in Puerto Rico this summer, and Tenney’s church is planning a mission trip. Both congregations are raising funds before the race, and donations will be accepted at the Speedway for individual churches. ’I am confident I will take the checkered flag,’ Tenney said, ‘and if I don’t, I just want to beat Garth Forster.’
