Flamingos deployed to raise disaster relief funds

First United Methodist Church is deploying flocks of pink flamingoes to help raise disaster relief funds to aid those impacted by Hurricane Dorian. ‘We hope this will go community-wide not just church-wide,’ organizer Cyndy Roberts said. You can have a flock arrayed in a friend or relative’s yard for a donation of $10. They can pay $10 to have the flock removed and another $10 to find out who ‘˜flocked’ them. A donation of $30 will provide you and your yard with flock insurance to help you avoid the tackiness. Donors are also encouraged to feed the flock with any donation and 100% of the money will go to the disaster relief fund. For more information, call the church office at 770-358-1494.
