Former honor grad returning to LCHS as assistant principal

Although her hiring will not be fully approved by the Board of Education until its April 12 meeting, Jameda Hugh Owens is expected to return to LCHS as assistant principal next fall. She is the daughter of James (Crow) Hugh and Diane Hugh of Barnesville. Owens was an honor graduate and president of the LCHS Class of 1999. She was voted class leader, best all around, most likely to succeed, most intelligent and most dependable by her classmates. She was also a member of the homecoming court. She got her degree in history and political science from Agnes Scott College and an advanced degree in social science and education from the University of Georgia. Owens teaches social studies at Bear Creek Middle School and was named Fulton County’s system-wide Teacher of the Year in 2015. She is married to Terrone Owens. They have a young daughter, Jyler Terriath Owens. Terrone Owens spent two years as offensive coordinator for the Westlake Lions. LC’s new football coach, Bryan Love, spent the last three years at Westlake. Terrone Owens is expected to join the LC coaching staff as well. His hiring may also be approved April 12.
