Mr. Forrest Edward ‘Edd’ Sanders, age 52, of Zebulon, passed away Aug, 29, 2014.Born Feb. 10, 1962, he was a member of the Church of Christ in Barnesville. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and his master’s degree from Georgia Southern College. For 30 years he worked for the Georgia Department of Corrections, serving as a counselor at the Jackson Diagnostic Center, superintendent at the Griffin Diversion Center and warden of the West Central Georgia Integrated Treatment Facility in Zebulon. He retired in 2013. He was an active member of the Pike County Kiwanis Club and Pike County Lions Club and served on the board of directors for the Department of Family and Children Services in Zebulon and Promise Place Women’s Shelter. Edd enjoyed fishing and helping others. He was preceded in death by his father, Forrest Sanders.He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alisa Sanders of Thomaston; son, William Sanders of Newnan; daughter, Ashelyn Sanders of Thomaston; mother, Mrs. Peggy Sanders of Meansville; sister, Mrs. Ann Marie Cruzan of Warner Robins; two nieces, a nephew and many friends.Friends visited the family on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 4-6 p.m., at the funeral home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 31, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home. A private family burial was held.
