Four detained after incident near LCHS

Four people were detained after an altercation at Lamar County High School Friday afternoon. Sheriff Brad White said the incident sprang out of an argument over a pair of tennis shoes. At one point one suspect had another’s arm rolled up in a window and was driving down the road with the trapped person running alongside. There was a pistol in the car though the sheriff said no one ever pointed it at anyone. The car also contained a pair of Air Jordan tennis shoes and reeked of marijuana. The incident took place right as school let out. Students saw four law enforcement officers advancing on the car with weapons drawn. No shots were fired. Four people were taken to the Lamar jail for questioning. UPDATE: Sheriff White said the incident happened in front of the school on Trojan Way and started at Powell Place apartments down the street from the school on Ward Drive. No identification has been released on those detained but they did not appear to be high school students.
