Three people were seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after a blowout on Hwy. 41 N. caused their pickup to run off the road and hit a tree.The late 90s model Dodge 2500 was northbound just south of Five Points Road when it lost a tire and skidded nearly 300 feet on the east shoulder of the roadway before hitting a culvert and going airborne and hitting a tree about six feet off the ground.All three passengers, two males and a female, were from Spalding County and all suffered serious injuries.One was lifeflighted to Macon Medical Center and another was being evaluated for air evacuation. A third went by ambulance to Spalding Regional Medical Center.The impact was so severe it broke both axles and the driveshaft on the truck. All three occupants were ejected through the back window, through the truck bed and out onto the shoulder of the road. It appeared no seat belts were in use.A brush guard on the front of the truck was sheared off.Lamar County deputies worked the wreck and the Georgia State Patrol is handling the investigation.The crash happened about 1:15 p.m.More to follow’¦.
