Spalding County authorities are investigating the Friday shooting of a four-year-old child.The young girl was shot in the hip by her twin brother who somehow got his hand’s on their father’s weapon. The father is a Henry County deputy.The incident happened at a home on Teamon Road.Statement from Capt. Tony Ranieri of the Spalding S.O.:A 4 year old twin boy accidentally shot his 4 year old twin sister around 1130 this a.m. The child is listed in stable condition and expected to recover from her injuries. The investigation continues as we have not yet interviewed the parents. From what we know at this time is, the child retrieved his father’s firearm, a Glock 40 caliber from one room, took the weapon into another room, the single shot was fired, the parents responded and found the little girl suffering from a gun shot wound. The child was life flighted to Egleston Childrens Hospital in Atlanta.The investigation continues and we will know more as to the circumstances surrounding how the little boy came into possession of the firearm.
