Fox discovered on Atlanta Street

Dispatch called out a Code 29 this morning alerting Barnesville Police Department and city workers that a fox had been spotted roaming about.The call originated from 247 Atlanta Street and owner of the home described the animal she had seen mid-morning walking through her yard.Office Chris Sears of BPD responded to the call and was able to shoot at, and hit, the animal. Sears used his police issue shotgun.Officer Sears reports the fox ran, wounded, into a thicket that was impassable. The body has not yet been recovered and city officials are asking that any reports of similar animals or other citings immediately be reported to BPD.
