Frances Yvonne Gravely Flanagan

Mrs. Frances Yvonne Gravely Flanagan, age 90, of Barnesville passed away October 22, 2015 at her residence. She was born January 25, 1925 in Bradley County, Tennessee to the late Mr. Grady Lee Gravely and the late Mrs. Lillie Mae Payne Gravely. The last of 13 children, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Dudley Dean Flanagan, one son, Mr. Charles Dudley Flanagan and one grandchild. Her family moved to Murray County, Georgia early in her life, where she lived on a farm until her marriage. In 1943 Frances met and married Dudley. She moved back to Murray County while Dudley was overseas in the Army. When Dudley returned to the states after the war, they settled in Macon, Georgia. During the years that followed the family lived in Warner Robins, Dalton, Chatsworth, Forsyth and Barnesville. They moved to Barnesville in 1966 after the purchase of the Dairy Queen. During her lifetime Frances worked as a waitress, business owner (Dairy Queen and Uh-Oh Shops), managed the lunch room at Gordon College and retired from Liberty National Life Insurance Company. Mrs. Flanagan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnesville and was a loving mother and wife who loved her family. Survivors include two daughters, Caroline ‘Jane’ Revell Benton of Barnesville and Ann F. Waters (and James A Waters, Sr.) of Newnan; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Frances Yvonne Gravely Flanagan will be conducted Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home with the Reverend Garth Forster officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 25, 21015 at the Williams Funeral Home from 1p.m. until the service hour.
