Fraud suspect arrested

Investigator Keith Dryden, Lead Fraud Investigator with the Griffin Police Department, has secured a total of twelve (12) felony warrants against Deno Rene Labrada, 52, of Norcross, pursuant to an active investigation into a reported check fraud incident involving a local bank in Griffin. Labrada is allegedly responsible for cashing a total of six (6) counterfeit checks in area branches of the bank, totaling in excess of $42,000. The investigation revealed that Labrada was responsible for similar incidents in other areas of Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana, and was well orchestrated. Effective communication between the Griffin Police Department and other law enforcement agencies resulted in the identification of Labrada, who is currently in custody in Indiana. Labrada will eventually be brought back to Georgia to face the charges here and in other jurisdictions within the state. The investigation is ongoing, with additional charges possible. Anyone with information on Labrada can contact Inv. Keith Dryden at 770-229-6452, Ext. 672, or at wkdryden@cityofgriffin.com.
