Following a motion by city councilwoman Anne Claxton, the Barnesville city council voted unanimously Tuesday afternoon to deny Fred’s and the other businesses in its strip center an entrance off Murphey Avenue in Barnesville Murphey Avenue residents Lisa Tuttle and Bob Taylor spoke out against the entrance known as a ‘curb cut’. Mike Brutz sent a letter in opposition. Property owner Bill Mixon lobbied for the entrance. He was represented by local attorney Scott Mayfield. The strip center has struggled to find a tenant for the former Movie Gallery location which folded two years ago.
