Fine ice pellets continued to fall in Barnesville at 7 a.m. Monday. Roads are iced up but navigable in four-wheel drive. Erin Cook of Southern Rivers Energy reported some power outages but no widespread problems. At 9:15 a.m., SRE had 181 members without power in the Hopewell Road area of Lizella. About 60 customers were powerless in Woodbury and one was in the dark on Highway 18 West in Lamar County. Ice is expected to fall until midday and it won’t get much warmer so beware. If you do not have to drive, don’t. UPDATE: The Lamar Co. Water Authority office is closed. Emergency calls may be routed to 770.358.5112 or through the sheriff’s office at 770.358.5159. Leave faucets dripping to avoid burst pipes.
