Frenchie Fambro freed

Accused killer Frenchie Fambro has been released from the Lamar County jail after a Thursday morning hearing in which chief magistrate William Thomas dismissed his murder charge. ”There was insufficient evidence presented of malice aforethought,” Judge Thomas said of his decision. The Barnesville Police Department and the GBI can seek warrants for the lesser charges of voluntary manslaughter or involuntary manslaughter. ”I did not choose to shift to a manslaughter charge,” Thomas said. Fambro had been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Christopher Martin Stepanski, 26, at JR. Food Mart in Barnesville July 21. Judge Thomas said testimony presented in his courtroom indicated Fambro shot Stepanski in self defense.
