The Friends of the Old Jail Museum & Archives campaign has been launched to honor the years of volunteer work by Shanna English in preserving and presenting the history of Barnesville and Lamar County at the facility. This fund-raising effort will provide many areas of need at the building. One such need is the signs. Patrick Henry has been commissioned to create new signs for the buildings and for the entrance on Thomaston Street at the courthouse. Those who would like to contribute to honor English in this way can write a tax-deductible check to the Old Jail Museum & Archives and drop it off at the Barnesville- Lamar County Library, attention Kelly Hughes.
