Fury clinch division crown

The Fury FC U 13 Athena girls defeated South Georgia United 4-2 in Pike County Saturday to clinch the division title. The Fury (9-1-2) edged out the Thunder Soccer Club based on their tiebreaking, 2-1 win over the Thunder in the season opener way back on September 8. The title means the Fury move up a competition level in the Spring. In Saturday’s finale, Shelbie Bohensky had two goals to pace the Fury. Paige Wood added a goal and Livia Lanier Geiger scored once and added an assist. Jodi Hearn and Bean Butler also had assists for the Fury while Brooke Shavers had five saves in goal. On Sunday, the Fury played a friendly match with the Pike U16 girls in preparation for play in the Red Star Challenge tournament this weekend in Columbus. The Fury came away with a 4-0 win. Geiger, Bohensky, Hailey Hadsell and Bailie Garland had goals for the Fury while Bohensky and Butler had assists. Dakota Housman had two saves in goal and Shavers added one. The Fury girls are Housman, Bohensky, Shavers Hadsell, Hearn, Caylin Cornelius, Garland, Geiger, Butler, Alex Chapman, Emily Natale, Whitney Hancock, Wood, Riley Fuller and Emily Ogletree. NOTES: Bohensky and Geiger qualified for Georgia Soccer’s District Training Program run under the auspices of its Olympic Development Program at tryouts last week. They will do advanced training in Warner Robins through February. Blake Webb and Christopher Asher of the Fury boys program also qualified for DTC.
