Two teams from the Fury Futbol Club took division titles at the Rockdale Youth Soccer Association Fall Kickoff Classic tournament in Conyers over the weekend.Multiple Fury teams, consisting of players from Pike, Lamar and surrounding counties competed in the tourney. There were elite and premiere divisions for each age group with the elite division sporting the higher level of competition.The Fury U13 girls, won the elite division for their age group. They opened with a 1-1 tie with the host RYSA Revolution Blue squad Saturday and followed that up with another 1-1 tie with the TH-19 Blue squad.The Fury girls blew out the Georgia FC Blue team 5-0 Sunday morning to qualify for the title game and a rematch with the Revolution. In that game they gutted out a 1-0 shutout win to take the title.Coaches and staff for the title team are Justin Osteen, Olivia Fortner, Amanda Eubanks and Becky Mangham.Also taking their division title were the Fury U14 girls who went undefeated in the U14 elite division, scoring 15 goals and allowing none.The Fury opened tourney play Saturday morning with a narrow, 1-0 win over the host team, RYSA Revolution elite squad to which they lost 4-0 in spring Georgia Soccer action earlier this year. Bean Butler got the only goal of the game on a penalty kick after Fury forward Shelbie Bohensky was tackled in the penalty box by the RYSA keeper.Brooke Shavers had two saves in goal for the Fury.In round two, the Fury routed the FFC Galaxy 5-0. Butler had two goals for the Fury while Bohensky, Emily Ogletree and Dakota Housman had one each. Livia Lanier Geiger had one assist.In round three Sunday, the Fury destroyed the Inter Atlanta FC squad 7-0. Ogletree rocketed in two goals while Geiger, Housman, Jessi Chapman, Alex Chapman and Paige Wood netted one apiece. Ogletree and Bailie Garland added assists.The win earned the Fury a spot in the final and a rematch with the Revolution. The teams played a tight, scoreless first half. In the second half, Ogletree hit Geiger with a perfect pass and she slammed home the first goal of the game.As time wound down, Wood laid in a beautiful pass to Alex Chapman who volleyed the ball in to seal the 2-0 victory and the title. Shavers had one save in goal for the Fury.Coaches and staff for the U14 girls are Don Bohensky, Sharmaine Shavers and Walter Geiger.
