Fury win two; move into first

The Fury FC U13 Athena girls won two matches over the weekend and moved into first place in their Georgia Soccer division. On Saturday, the Fury played their first home game and routed the Attack team from the Villa Rica Soccer Association 6-0. The Attack managed but one shot on goal which was saved by Fury keeper Brooke Shavers. Shelbie Bohensky had two goals for the Fury while Dakota Housman, Jodi Hearn, Alex Chapman and Paige Wood had one each. Bohensky, Wood and Livia Lanier Geiger had one assist each for the Fury. On Sunday, the Fury traveled to Peachtree City to take on the AFC Lightning Select squad and came away with a 5-0 win and took sole possession of first place. They had been tied for first with AFC going into the match. Chapman had two goals for the Fury while Wood, Bohensky and Emily Ogletree had one each. Geiger, Chapman and Bean Butler had assists while Shavers had seven saves in goal. The weekend was ruled by the Fury defense, paced by Hailey Hadsell, Riley Fuller, Bailie Garland, Emily Natale, Whitney Hancock, Caylin Cornelius, Hearn, Ogletree and Butler. The Fury host the Atlanta Fire at the Pike soccer complex this Saturday at 10:30 a.m. On Sunday, they travel to Acworth to take on the Northwest YMCA squad at 3 p.m.
