Gangbangers sought after shooting

Spalding County authorities are searching for three alleged gang members after a gang violence shooting there. UPDATE: All three have been taken into custody after the media alert. UPDATE from sheriff Beam: Josef Elgers and Dion Jester have been arrested by the Union City Police Department after going through a Safety Check Point. Elgers is currently being held in the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center and Jester provided authorities in Union City with a false name and currently being held in Union City on those charges he will be sent to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center once Union City Police have concluded their investigation. Michael Lyons has turned himself in to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office and is currently enroute to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. From Spalding sheriff Wendell Beam: Investigators with the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a gang related shooting that occurred on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the convenience store located at 1245 N. Hill Street. Deputies with the Uniformed Patrol Division responded to a shooting call at the location and learned that a person had been shot. After arriving on the scene the deputies began locating victims and witnesses to the shooting. Two victims were located with one having a gunshot wound both were treated by Medical Personnel on the scene and later transported to the Spalding Regional Medical Center. Deputies also learned that a fight had started between the two gangs when some gang members produced hand guns and shots were fired. One victim was shot and another had been beaten about his body that required medical attention. Investigators arrived on the scene and after gathering evidence at the scene and interviewing the victims and witnesses were able to identify the suspects involved in the shooting. Criminal arrest warrants have been issued for 18 year old Josef Lee Elgers black male, of 444 Kara Lane McDonough, Georgia; 19 year old Christopher Dion Jester black male, last known address of 205 Cody Drive Griffin, Georgia; 22 year old Michael Fitzgerald Lyons black male, of 1116 W. Broad Street Griffin, Georgia. Warrants charging all three suspects with Aggravated Assault; Georgia Street Gang Act have been issued for their arrest. All three suspects are considered armed and dangerous, anyone with any information pertaining to the whereabouts of these three suspects, are asked to contact the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office or 911. A reward will be paid for any information leading to the arrest of these suspects. All information will remain in confidence with the Sheriff’s Office
