The Griffin Choral Arts community chorus, under the direction of Dr. Stephen J. Mulder, will present ‘Masterworks: Mozart’s Requiem’ on Thursday, March 12, at 7:30 p.m. at The Griffin Auditorium. This concert features Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem Mass in D Minor, one of Mozart’s most performed and popular but also mysterious works. The Mozart Requiem became popular most recently in 1984 through its prominence in the plot line of the Oscarwinning film Amadeus. While the film features only isolated excerpts from the Requiem, the GCA concert will be an excellent opportunity to hear this masterpiece in its entirety. The performance will include an orchestra consisting of top-flight Atlanta-area professional instrumentalists and outstanding vocal soloists Valerie Gill, Magdalena Wor, Richard Kosowski and Stephen Ozcomert.’The timing of the performance during the Christian season of Lent will add further appeal,’ said Dr. Mulder.Program notes will be available at the GCA website prior to the date of the performance.Tickets are $15 general admission for all ages at the door or in advance in Griffin at Artistic Flowers and Gifts, Safehouse Coffee Roasters and First United Methodist Church, in Barnesville at Goggans Florist and in Zebulon at A Novel Experience bookstore. For information about Griffin Choral Arts call 888-SING1-88 (888-746-4188) or visit http://www.griffinchoralarts.org
