At its Earth Songs concert this week, Griffin Choral Arts will be accompanied by the renowned Atlanta Percussion Trio whose members play a wide variety of percussion instruments, including a conch shell and a donkey’s jawbone.Earth Songs feature music from around the world with an emphasis on Latin American music which is right up the trio’s alley.APT member Scott Douglas is an internationally acclaimed steel drum player.The concert is set for Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Griffin.Tickets are $10 and available at Goggans Florist in Barnesville.The show will also premiere GCA’s first commissioned work by composer David N. Childs of Vanderbilt University.GCA is conducted by Dr. Stephen J. Mulder of Barnesville, a former president of Lamar Arts. Steve and his wife, Erin, are the parents of Will, 8, and Grace, 5.
