Mr. Gene BlankenshipSeptember 1, 1943 – April 25, 2018Mr. Harry Eugene ‘Gene’ Blankenship, age 74, of Milner, passed away April 25, 2018.He was born in Barnesville, son of the late Harry Blankenship and Ruby Whiddon Blankenship. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving as an Army Ranger in Korea. Gene worked in the field of telecommunications for many years, traveling all over the country. He loved motorcycles and fishing.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce Allen Blankenship.He is survived by his former wife: Joyce Simpkins of Milner; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Gunda Blankenship, Barnesville; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and David Turner of Milner; grandchildren, Willow Blankenship-Squires, Casey Warren, Scott and Kelly Turner and Megan Turner; great-grandson, Ethan Turner; sister, Wanda McCarl; special brother-in-law, Mac McCarl of Rogersville, Tenn.; sister-in-law, JoAnne Blankenship of Wichita, Kan.; uncle, E.J. Keistler of Newport, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.Friends may visit the family on Sat., April 28, from 1-2 p.m., at the funeral home. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Moody-Daniel Funeral Home.Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, GA, is in charge of arrangements.
