Free Valentine’s Day weddings will again be offered by the Lamar County Magistrate Court on Saturday, Feb. 14. The court continues this Valentine’s Day tradition that began eight years ago by retired chief magistrate William Thomas. This public service is offered at no cost to couples or to the county. The courtroom will be decorated by Goggans Florist. Light refreshments and a miniature wedding cake will be provided in addition to bouquets and boutonnieres from the florist. A complimentary meal for newlyweds will also be provided by DB’s Pizzeria. ’We do this for children. Our children are our future. A committed, loving two parent home makes families stronger and gives children the opportunity to thrive,’ says chief magistrate Karen R. Jackson.
