Gladys Earp Blasingim, age 94, passed away, March 10, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice surrounded by loved ones who will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest. Her family is deeply saddened by the loss of their rock. She was their Mama, Maw, and best friend.
Gladys was born July 12, 1927 to Disey and Ben Earp in Camden, Tennessee. She was married to Sam Blasingim, the love of her life, for 59 years before he passed. They were blessed with 4 children: Peggy, Ben, Sheila, and Billy. She was very adventurous and loved to travel. They lived in Camden, Tenn., Dorena Mo., Bethalto, Ill., Hickman, Ky., Cashion, Ariz., then found their forever home in Griffin, Ga. in 1968. She was a member of Rock Springs Church.
Gladys retired from Thomaston Mills in Griffin, Ga. and was known as a hard worker. She made the best out of retiring. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world with her family. She was especially proud and happy to have gone to Israel and be Baptized in the Jordan River in 2011. She loved taking care of her grand grandchildren, going camping with all the family, and cooking BIG meals for everyone.
Gladys was proceeded in death by her parents Ben and Disey Cole Earp, husband Sam Blasingim, siblings JT, Hercule, OB, Charles Earp, Vivian (Fred) Russell, Lillian (Bud) Matlock. Grandson’s Sammy Scoggin and Dakota Farr.
She is survived by her children, Peggy Scoggin, Ben (Arlene) Blasingim, Sheila (Danny) English, Billy (Pam) Blasingim, sister-in-law, Betty Earp. 9 Grandkids: Lynett (Robby) Smith, Roger (Jennifer) Scoggin, Tammy (Rodney) Bassett, Danny (Jeannie) English, Justin (Johanna) English, Jeffery (Bethany) English, Cory (Angela) Millen, Georgia (Tim) Crosthwaite, Benjamin (Alexis) Blasingim. 22 Great-Grandkids: Brandy Frady, Shae (Meredith) Smith, Heather (Nathan) Miller, Brian (Ivy), Brad, Harrison (Hannah) Scoggin, Angelica (Zach) Butler, Samantha, Remington Bassett, Britney, Bayle, Jordyn, Zayne, Mattie-Rose, Raegyn, and Paxton English, Jazmine, McKenzie Millen, Sam, Brandon Crosthwaite, Alia, Justin Blasingim. 12 great-great-grandkids: Haley Polk, Macie, Gracie Miles, Cohen, Mason, Presleigh, Brooklyn-Gene Smith, Hudson, Maddox Miller, Brady, Max, Mia Scoggin. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her.
Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the chapel of Rock Springs Church. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be conducted. Interment will be in Church Cemetery. Dr. Benny Tate will officiate.
