Qualifying came to a close at noon Friday but not until after two last-minute qualifiers showed up at the elections officeNeal Devane qualified as a Democrat to oppose Charles Glass who qualified for the spot as a Republican. Those two will square off in November but have no opposition in the May primary.Glass has served one term as district two county commissioner. He defeated George Brown for that slot four years ago. Devane served one term on the Barnesville city council before being ousted by Larry Whitworth last November.Brown, meanwhile, qualified as a Republican Friday for a shot at retaking his old commission seat. He will battle it out with fellow Republican Robert Heiney in the primary.Additionally, the already crowded field for the District 16 senate seat formerly held by Ronnie Chance who is stepping down drew a seventh candidate when Peachtree City project manager Erik A.
