The first community production of Godspell will be performed May 1-2 at the Fine Arts Center. Saturday’s show is at 7 p.m. Sunday’s show is at 2:30.The cast is made up of local young people and Gordon College students. It features Austin Ogletree as Jesus, the closest thing to a truly named character.’The players won’t even be called by name on stage. This is an ensemble piece, a unit,’ said director Scott Votaw. ‘The names are only for reference so I know who does what. The roles are still fluid. Altering the characters is perfectly acceptable,’ especially for singing roles.Other main roles are taken by Jake Sapp in a dual role as John the Baptist and Judas, Allie Bankston as Gilmer, Courtney Wynne as Robin, Gregg Reese as Herb, Amanda Brown as Sonia, Erin Ogle as Joanne, Andrew Emmons as Jeffery, Conner Panker as Lamar and Mackenzie Dyer as Peggy.The chorus of disciples will include Brett Barnes, Michael Brown, Daisy Gutierrez, Brittany Marrero, Emily Russell and Jessica Hamm.
