Lamar County elections superintendent Anita Reid is calling her board and others together tonight to recount the vote in last week’s race for the Republican nomination for state school superintendent. In the original count, Richard L. Woods defeated Mike Buck 199,453 to 198,740, a difference of 713 votes. The margin falls within the state guidelines for recounts and one was ordered this afternoon by secretary of state Brian Kemp. The recount must be complete by noon Thursday but Reid is conducting hers tonight beginning at 5 p.m. due to scheduling conflicts. The recount is open to the public.
