Gordon Baseball Season Winds Down

The Gordon College men’s baseball team will return home for its final games of the regular season Friday, April 17. The Highlanders will face South Georgia College for a three game series starting Friday at 6 p.m. Saturday’s double header begins at 2. The team will travel to Tennessee to face Cleveland State on April 21 before returning home for three final games against Truett-McConnell on April 24 and 25. In recent play the Highlanders took two and dropped two against Darton and South Georgia which leaves the team 26-15 for the regular season and 10-5 in conference play. In the first game against Darton, Gordon scored 11 runs to Darton’s 6. Brandan Chastain led the offense with a 2-5 performance including 3 RBIs. Aaron Dobbs and Eric Esquilin chipped in with a 2-4 performance respectively and Tyler Brown picked up the win going just over 4 innings in relief and allowing one hit. In game two of the series, Gordon scored two to Darton’s 4. Bryant Kerns was the tough luck loser pitching a complete game, striking out 7 and allowing no earned runs. Aaron Dobbs was 1-2 with a home run. Gordon bounced back in the third game scoring 10 to Darton’s 6. Joah Evans picked up the win pitching 6 innings and allowing just 2 runs. Mitch Rider, Jim Moreland, Blake Parrott and Aaron Dobbs were all 2-4 at the plate. In a game against South Georgia Gordon scored 18 runs, losing by just one to South Georgia. Mitch Rider led the offense with a 3-6 performance including 3 RBI’s while Brandan Chastain and Luke Walls chipped in with 3-5 performances.
