Gordon College will host Georgia Perimeter

In an important three game conference series Gordon College will host Georgia Perimeter this weekend at the Highlander Athletic Complex. Game one is Friday at six o’clock. Games two and three will be played as a doubleheader Saturday beginning at 2 p.m. The Highlanders are 26-14 overall and 9-3 in Region XVII play, tied for first place with Middle Georgia. The Jaguars are 7-5 in the conference and in a three way tie for third with Young Harris and South Georgia. Also on the local college campus this weekend, the Lady Highlanders softball team will host Darton College Friday afternoon in a two o’clock twinbill before traveling to Tifton Saturday for a pair of games with Abraham Baldwin. The Gordon women are 19-15 overall and 3-3 in conference play. Inclement weather postponed sporting events on the Lamar County High School campus Thursday as the Diamond Trojans were scheduled to play Washington County while the Lady Trojan and Trojan soccer teams were set to host Howard High School. The Diamond Trojans will make-up their varsity game with WaCo Monday, April 26. The JV game will not be re-scheduled. The soccer teams will host Howard Monday, April 12 beginning with the girls’ matches at 5:30 p.m . The Lamar County Recreation Department will open its tee ball, softball and baseball seasons on Saturday with a full slate of games. Opening day ceremonies will get underway Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
