Gordon enrollment down slightly this fall

By Walter Geiger Enrollment at Gordon State College is down by about four percent this fall compared to last year. About 4025 students were enrolled as of Aug. 27, GSC president Dr. Max Burns told the Gordon Foundation at its regular meeting. Dr. Burns reported the school turned away hundreds of applicants who did not meet the school’s academic standards. The housing complexes on campus are at maximum capacity. GSC draws the most students from Henry County which is home to 848 fall enrollees. Other leading counties (in descending order) are Spalding 415, Upson 307, Pike 256, Clayton 255, Lamar 248, Fayette 219, Butts 149, Monroe 145, Dekalb 127, Fulton 121 and Bibb 116.
