Gordon enrollment tops 5100

Fall semester enrollment at Gordon College has topped 5100 students, according to interim president Shelly Nickel. Nickel announced the record enrollment Thursday at a luncheon during which community leaders met with University System Chancellor Erroll Davis who was visiting campus. Davis said a three-year experiment at Gordon during which a minimum SAT score is not required for admission will end next fall. “You will see a better quality student,” the chancellor said. Nickel said the college could retain its record growth numbers despite the SAT requirement by refining its student recruitment efforts. Davis also addressed campus crime at the meeting.
